John Scott has joined the Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer team!
Through 286 regular season NHL games with the Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, Phoenix Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens, he scored but 5 goals and 11 points, as well as 544 penalty minutes, but his legacy will remain because of the 2015-16 NHL season. An online campaign garnered enough traction that the unlikely Phoenix forward was voted onto a spot in the NHL All-Star Game. Despite a trade to the Montreal Canadiens before the game took place, and being sent to the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps, the NHL ruled that John would play in the game. He was named captain of the Pacific Division squad, and proceeded to score two goals. He was named the Most Valuable Player for the tournament and earned his share of the team’s million-dollar prize. John Scott’s autobiography, ‘A Guy Like Me: Fighting to Make the Cut,’ was released in 2016, and bestselling author Mitch Albom is writing a screenplay on John’s life.
