ANGELA JAMES

An Honoured Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Angela James has joined the Scotiabank® Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer team.

Considered the first superstar of women’s hockey, Angela James was a prolific scorer during her sensational career. She led Team Canada to a gold medal at the World Championship in 1992, where she was also named All-Star Forward. It was the first of four Worlds in which Angela participated for Canada. She also won medals at 12 national championships, and was selected as the MVP eight times. Angela was the leading scorer in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) on eight occasions, and the league’s most valuable player six times. She was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (along with Cammi Granato; the first women to be so honoured), the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame (2009), Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and the Ontario Ball Hockey association Hall of Fame. In addition, the arena in Toronto’s Flemingdon Park was renamed in her honour.
